About the Firefly
The Firefly is one of the longest established classes at the club and still has one of the strongest racing fleets. Designed to be sailed single-handed but is usually sailed with a crew, without the added complications of trapezes or spinnakers, it has enjoyed significant success with many UK sailing clubs and has a strong presence on the national racing scene. Although originally designed as a wooden moulded construction, many newer boats are built of glass reinforced plastic.
